Celebrating the SE PDX Neighborhood of Montavilla This Year
The Montavilla Street Festival is one of the best neighborhood events in Portland, and you don’t want to miss it. The camaraderie of pedestrians, all meandering amongst the street vendors and food carts, with the strains of live music enhancing the air, is truly a sight to behold. This is Portland at its finest and most neighborly. At the Montavilla Street Festival, you will find the most exquisite beer garden, as well as some fierce face painting for the younger ones.
There are two live music stages, so you can enjoy music as you wander both to and fro during the festival. Vendor areas line the festival streets, so you don’t have to worry about getting hungry along the way, as some gourmet popcorn or prime cheese tasting will be available to satiate your hunger pangs.
There will be many participating vendors, selling everything from food to handmade arts and crafts. Participating vendors include food carts, business-sponsored vendors, live music, and a kids area with face painting and kid-friendly activities. If you are an artist and want to support your local artistic community, the Montavilla Street Festival is an ideal place to do so, as many vendors sell their own paintings, handcrafted pillows, clothes, or other artistic forms of expression.
Location and Time of the 2016 Montavilla Street Festival
The Montavilla Street Festival will be held on July 21, 2016 from 11:00am-5:00pm at 7925 SE Stark St, south of East Burnside St and Mt. Tabor. The streets are closed around the fair, and parking is monitored by policemen, so don’t give into the temptation to park only slightly illegally.
There is a beer garden behind the Bipartisan Cafe at 7901 SE Stark St, a live music stage on 79th, and another stage with all ages performances. Vendor areas will be located along SE 79th Ave.
Montavilla Street Festival Costs
In 2016 as always, the Montavilla Street Fair is free for everyone to attend. Entryway into the beer garden requires valid identification and the wearing of a colorful wristband. At this date, registration for vendors is now closed.
